Summer Book Recommendations
There is nothing quite like reading a good book in the sun! I want to share some amazing books that I have personally read and believe should be talked about. A little backstory on my reading history is that I read for entertainment, it is my favorite hobby. I read a majority of romance books with a hint of some mystery/thriller, literary-fiction, and fantasy stories. However, summer screams romance books!

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
Just for the Summer is Abby Jimenez's newest release, and is a part of a standalone interconnected series. The main characters of this story both have the same "curse" when it comes to their love life. Everyone that they end up dating go off to find their soulmate the second they break up. They find each other through a reddit posts and decide to try and break the curse by dating each other, with the end goal of breaking up and finding their own soulmates. However, as they story goes on, they find a true connection within each other. Something I love about this book is how both main characters are
going through heavy personal challenges in their lives, while also trying to maintain a bond together. I highly recommend this book along with all of Abby Jimenez's novels.
Beach Read is one of my all-time favorite books, and it is one of the novels that got me into reading. I recommend all of Emily Henry's books, especially during the summer time. January Andrews is a romance writer who has always believed in love. This is until she finds out about the disloyalty her late father showed in his marriage. With her new mixed feelings on love, January heads out to her father's secret beach house to clean it out, and hopefully finds it in her to write her next novel. However, when January arrives at the beach house, she is surprised to find her new temporary neighbor, Augustus Everett. Gus is a highly praised author, known for his 'serious' no-romance novels. When both authors catch themselves in writer's block, they create a challenge. January is to write a serious novel, while Gus must write a novel with a happy ending. The goal is to end the summer with a finished manuscript and no real-life romance between the two. However, when the two bring each other on their respective "field trips" the initial rules start to get blurry.
Macy Sorensen has created the safest life for herself, she is an overworking pediatric resident and is preparing to marry an older, financially stable man. She keeps her head down and walks through her routine. That is until she runs into someone from her past, Elliot Petropoulos.
The story between Macy and Elliot are told from past and present times. In Macy's past, Elliot was her everything. They grow up as best friends, until Elliot opened her heart up after the grief of misses her mother and expresses his love. However, in the same night he breaks her heart. Now eleven years later, they have an unexpected reunion. Elliot is determine to understand why Macy went radio silent on him for all these years after their parting, but both of them have separate lives to think about. (Check trigger warnings, this book deals with traumatic experiences.)
Wildfire is the second book in The Maple Hills Series. (I recommend the first book Icebreaker, however this one is more summer vibes.)
Wildfire is about two college kids who share one steamy night right before the summer. Aurora Roberts and Russ Callaghan meet at an end of the year party and Aurora being Aurora, aka never expecting much from men, leaves before Russ can get her name. Thinking that would be the only time they see each other, they both use the summer to distract themselves from their home lives. That is until they both end up being camp counselors for the same summer camp. The camp has a strict "no staff fraternizing" rule that Russ cannot risk and be sent back to Maple Hills, but Aurora has never been one to follow the rules. This summer will test both characters on if they can hold back their attraction for one another and learn to co-exist at the camp for a whole summer.
This novel is a literary fiction that will encase you in a story about a band and a coming of age singer and how they lived in the late sixties.
Daisy Jones is a young girl will a big love for rock 'n' roll and a dream to be famous. Daisy has always had a wild side to her and as she is older her beauty is her super power, and her voice is beyond intoxicating. At the same time, a band named "The Six" has grown in the public eye, especially the lead singer, Billy Dunne. Billy has just found out his girlfriend is pregnant right before they go on tour, and this big news causes Billy to freak out and go wild on the upcoming tour. A producer decides to pair Daisy and Billy together to create an explosive sound between the two. However, tour life gets to them both and they make some questionable decisions. They both have to decide what is most important to them and not allow the lights and fame to get to them.
Piper Bellinger is known as the "It Girl" with a wild reputation that the paparazzi never fails to report. When Piper takes a party a little too far and ends up behind bars, her stepfather decides to cut her off until she can learn some responsibility.
Piper is sent to her late father's bar with her sister in tow to gain trust back from their stepfather. However, the small beach town she was sent too might be a little to average for Piper. She is not the only one who seems to think she does not belong in Westport. Piper bumps into the small town, grumpy sea captain, Brendan, and he is not shy to let her know she is not welcome. However, these two opposites cannot seem to stop ruining into each other. Piper has never wanted to settle down and live a small town life, but breaking down the walls of the broody sea captain might just be the change of heart she was longing for.
This review is a little different than my others in the sense that I believe once you read the first book, Flawless, in the Chestnut Springs series I do not think you will want to stop. This series was a five stars for me and I continue to think about these characters. This series is compiled of five different small town, modern cowboy romance novels. Each book is about a character from the same family, and I really enjoyed that aspects because it brings a sense of not only family but a found family to the environment. All five books have a romance going on between the main characters, while also focusing on their own personal issues that are very relatable to real world problems. As you continue to read each book, past characters appear and it is intriguing to see how they all act to each other. Each book has its own trope like enemies-to-lovers, fake dating, single dad, friends-to-lovers, pregnancy, etc. My personal favorite book was the second one, Heartless. I plan to reread this whole series! These books are also pretty big for romance books, but they are so easy to binge.
Hallie Piper has officially hit rock bottom when she finds herself sneaking out of a man's hotel room in the middle of the night. She has decided to reinvent herself and become a women, so she cuts her hair, gets a new apartment, and signs up for a dating app. However, when she logs into the app she sees none other than Jack, the man whose hotel room she just snuck out of. Jack and Hallie hit it off, except not in the way you think... They both decide to become each others "wing-man". They meet each other after every date and give each other updates on their dates to find "The One". They end up making a wager to see who can find their true love first, but when they end up as each others wedding date the lines become blurry. After all, they look forward to the debrief after a date then the actual date. That's normal, right?
Jenny Han has a knack for creating no brain power young adult novels that completely enrapture you. The Summer I Turned Pretty just happens to be another one of those novels. This book is the first book of the trilogy and there is also a tv series as well. These books (the trilogy) is about two families that meet up every summer, however, this summer feels different. Everyone is grown up and has definitely hit puberty. You go through heartfelt moments between each character as well as entertaining moments with unserious teenagers. These books are super easy to read and are fun to binge on the beach. You will not want to stop after the first!
Now we are back to the small-town cowboy romances...sorry they are addicting. Done and Dusted is a slow burn story about Clementine "Emmy" Ryder and Luke Brooks. Luke Brooks has been an unofficial member of the Ryder family thanks to Emmy's older brother.
Emmy leaves their small town and set off to mark everything off of her "to do list." But once she has completed this list, for the first time, she is at a loss of what to do next. After having been in a horse riding accident she has decided to head back home to Meadowlark. Luke Brooks has never left Meadowlark, matter of fact, he owns the town bar and is known as the towns bad boy. Emmy has never had time to think about romance and Luke Brooks definitely is not an option. Except, when Luke can't stop seeing Emmy in a different view, emotions get mixed. But Clementine "Emmy" Ryder is OFF limits.
I hope some of these recommendations interest you, and you give them a read. This is just ten of the many many many books that I could recommend. I suggest searching up trigger warnings before you read any of the books as most, if not all of them, do touch on a more serious topic throughout the pages. Please let me know if you have or are going to read any of these books and what you think of them. I am always happy to talk books, happy reading!!
